Privacy Policy — Spar

Last updated: 23 August 2026

Spar is a local desktop interview gym operated by Diwakar IT Services (“we”, “our”, “us”). This policy explains what stays on your machine, what is sent only if you turn on AI review, and how to contact us. By using Spar, you agree to this policy.

No accounts

Spar does not create an account. There is no sign-in, no profile, and no cloud workspace. We do not run a Spar backend that stores your problems, solutions, or progress.

On this device

Progress is stored in a local SQLite database in the app data directory on this computer. That can include:

  • Drafts and submissions for each problem and language
  • Notes, streaks, XP, daily goals, and unit unlocks
  • Generated AI reviews and complexity notes, if you request them
  • Settings such as language preference, Python and Node paths, timer, and AI provider

This data stays on the device unless you copy it yourself or send it through an AI provider as described below. Uninstalling Spar or deleting the app data directory removes it.

Code you run

Run and Submit execute your solution on this machine with your user account, using the Python or Node runtime you configured. Visible and hidden tests also run locally. Your code is not uploaded for judging.

Optional AI review

AI review is optional and only runs after a problem is Accepted, when you ask for a review or a complexity analysis. You choose a provider in Settings:

  • OpenAI — Spar sends the problem statement, tags, language, and your solution to OpenAI’s API using the key you paste in Settings
  • Local Ollama — Spar sends the same kind of prompt to the Ollama host you configured (by default on this computer)

If you point Ollama at a host that is not this machine, that host receives the prompt. We do not receive a copy. OpenAI and any remote Ollama host handle data under their own policies.

Your OpenAI API key is stored in the local database so reviews can run. It is not shown back in the interface after you save it. You can clear it in Settings.

Other network use

If you use Settings to download Ollama or pull a model, Spar may open ollama.com or talk to your configured Ollama host. Installing Spar from GitHub Releases is handled by your browser and GitHub, not by an account inside the app.

Spar does not include ads, first-party analytics, or crash reporters.

How we use information

We do not collect a personal profile from Spar. Information that stays on your device is used only to run the gym on that device. Information you send to OpenAI or Ollama is used only to return the review or complexity result you requested.

We do not sell your personal information.

Your choices

You can use Spar without configuring any AI provider. You can switch providers, clear the OpenAI key, or change the Ollama host in Settings. You can delete local progress by removing the app data directory or uninstalling the app.

Children

Spar is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Where we operate

Diwakar IT Services is based in India. If you use OpenAI or a remote Ollama host, those providers may process the prompt in other regions under their own policies.

Changes

We may update this policy from time to time. The updated text will appear on this page. Continued use of Spar after a change means you accept the updated policy.
